* Hamlet Soliloquies *

Taking on Shakespeare's masterpiece is tricky for us all...making it accessible emotionally is the most key element.
The intricacy and grace of this poetry can be a formative building block for kids in terms of academics. It can also, however, open up worlds of visceral and intuitive possibilities and provide true emotional support in their psychology.
I work with text analysis and deconstruction of some of the most famous speeches in the play. This workshop also entails the exploration of the major themes and how they speak to our current culture.
We conclude with memorized presentation.

* Monologue Study *

Learn to personalize text through hand picked speeches for memorization. Create emotional life for the characters and apply them to the monologue for final presentation. This workshop is about making a character your own and about using your unique impressions of them to bring them to life. Also, exploring "the power of the pause", how to utilize silence to accent or offset speech.

* Fight Scenes: R&J, Macbeth *

This workshop is the examinzation of these two plays as seen through the lense of two of the greatest battle scenes. I use age appropriate fight choreography. The kids learn with movement and dialogue and benefit greatly by observing one another's scenes and physical movement. This class is great way to become connected to the language and have great fun doing so.
We conclue with Scene Presentation.

* Improv *

This workshop is great for any age group.
A crash course in basic theatre games which promote expanding imagination & creativity. I utilize games which explore positive choices & storytelling, and encourage self-directed, reflective learning & behavior.

- All workshops may be of two to six weeks in length, and either once or twice per week, for up to an hour and a half per class.
- Available to work in conjunction with English and or Drama Teachers, or as a guest artist.
